The GMT Education Writing Course is designed and taught by graduates from the University of Oxford. It covers everything students need to know for academic or creative writing in just one hour a week. The GMT Writing Course provides various training for various writing skills and writing styles, such as creative narrative writing and argumentative essays. Each class begins with analysing and improving students' previous assignments in a half-hour session, followed by a half-hour session of planning their next assignment. GMT Education Limited is committed to excellence and continuous improvement. The Writing Course helps students of any age or language level better understand the world around them. Through writing and reading comprehension exercises, they will learn how to create persuasive arguments in academic settings. Everything is designed with your child’s needs in mind. Their academic and personal progress is our number one priority! The children of today are required to write well-structured papers throughout their educational experience from K-12 through to university and, later, throughout their entire work life. It is imperative that we teach them the best writing practices from early on. Our goal has always been to stimulate creativity while strengthening logical thinking. This course does just that! Students may have a tough time with our rigorous methods at first, but under the guidance of our excellent tutors, they will improve substantially.
The GMT General Writing Course
The GMT General Writing Course is aimed at students of all ages who are still learning how to write high quality argumentative essays and creative writing assignments. This is our most personalised course. We recommend this course to students below Grade 6 and those who want to advance from either beginner to intermediate, or from intermediate to advanced in their writing skills. Advanced students would be better suited to The GMT Writing Project (Mini Extended Essay). This course aims to stimulate the students’ creativity and interest in English by teaching them how it feels to be an author. They will learn how to write an argumentative essay to an upper-intermediate level, including how to research for and structure it. This greatly develops their critical thinking skills. They will also engage in creative writing by producing their own short stories, mini-plays and poems. They will learn how to coherently structure their creative writing, how to use a variety of poetic techniques such as enjambment, metaphor and anaphora, and how to create realistic characters. These skills are aimed at maximizing their English performance at school while also encouraging them to be more creative, confident and organised.
GMT Writing Based Project (Mini Extended Essay)
The GMT Writing Project consists of 12 lessons during which the student will research for and write a mini-extended essay on a topic of their choice. The essay topics are designed to mimic those assigned for the IB extended essay and British University courses. The course was created to familiarize advanced students with the writing style that will be expected of them for their IB Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge projects, and for their university essays, should they choose to attend a top British University. The Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge projects account for 3 out of 45 points in the IB. British universities require their students to write a dissertation similar in style to the Extended Essay, but ranging from 6,000 to 12,000 words, depending on the course. Students are not allowed to graduate from their university course without having written such a dissertation. The skill of writing extended essays is crucial for students who want to succeed in their IB and their British university courses. The skills taught in this course include researching, critical thinking, essay structure, perseverance, ability to closely analyse a given topic, citing and editing according to either the British MHRA or the Chicago standards, data analysis, and using basic data visualisation tools. Given that this is an upper-intermediate to advanced course, a preliminary assessment will be given to each student. * Parents must be aware that the completion of the project relies on the assumption that the student will complete the majority of his/her homework assignments.
